Ben Saunders returns to the UFC

Ben Saunders has re-signed with the UFC.

Just one day after Titan FC President Jeff Aronson spoke to Sucka Radio about how excited he was for the Titan FC 29 main event between Saunders and Jose ‘Pele’ Landi-Jons, the “Killa B” was picked back up by the UFC.

Saunders told Sucka Radio last week that one of the reasons he signed with Titan FC was because of their “Zuffa Clause” which allows fighters to leave the organization if the UFC is interested in them.

Ariel Helwani of MMAFighting.com was first to report the news and MMASucka.com followed up with Aronson to confirm.

“I have been a fan of Ben Saunders for years,” Aronson told MMASucka. “There was no way on earth I was going to stand between him and his dream!!! This just proves our company motto of #FansFightersFirst is not just talk, it’s fact!!! Congrats Ben!”

Landi-Jons was a replacement for Saunders’ original opponent Matt Riddle, however just hours after announcing the fight, “Pele” could not secure a visa to fight in the United States.

Saunders (16-6-2) last fought inside the Octagon in 2010 — he was then released after losing two in a row to Jon Fitch and Dennis Hallman. “Killa B” then went on to fight for a regional promotion, which led to a two and a half year Bellator run.

The 31-year-old was a two-time Bellator Welterweight Tournament finalist.

The season six TUF contestant held a 4-3 record his last time under the UFC banner and is 8-3 upon his return.
