Michael Bisping vs. Luke Rockhold set for UFC Australia

UFC Fight Night 55 gets a huge middleweight fight as two guys who clearly do not like one another face-off in Australia. Michael ‘The Count’ Bisping vs. Luke Rockhold has been made official. There will be no shortage of trash talk here!

UFC officials announced the fight on Friday.

Bisping (25-6) is a UFC veteran with 21 fights within the promotion. 21 fights, no title fights. But the brash Brit hopes to change that in 2015. Coming off one of the most dominant victories of his career, Michael Bisping most recently destroyed Cung Le in the main event of UFC Fight Night in Macau. He used knees and punches to put the bloody Cung Le away in the fourth round. He has been exchanging wins and losses since early 2012.

Rockhold (12-2) came into the UFC as the Strikeforce middlweight champion, and he sure wasn’t treated like a newcomer. He would face Vitor Belfort in his debut. The fight took place in Vitor’s native of Brazil and ended with Belfort finishing Rockhold with a spinning heel kick and punches. Since the unsuccessful debut Rockhold has won two in a row. A knockout of the night performance over Costa Philippou in which he put Philippou away mid-way through round one with a body kick, and, more recently, he defeated Tim Boetsch by submission two minutes into the first round of their bout at UFC 172 in April with an inverted triangle kimura.

The bouts placement on the card is unknown at this time, but you can bet on it being in the main or co-main spot.

UFC Fight Night 55 is expected to take place in Sydney, Australia on November 8 at the Allphone Arena.
