If you stayed up late, or caught the replay on Saturday morning you were in for a treat with UFC Fight Night 52.

The fans in attendance at the historic Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan had some epic fights take place that continued to put a stamp on the arena as a place for legends.

One fighter that made an impact on the night, was co-main event combatant Myles Jury. The Alliance MMA lightweight knocked out Japanese veteran Takanori Gomi in just 92-seconds.

He was the favorite in the fight, however no one expected it to be so quick. This marked Jury’s sixth straight win inside the Octagon, which ties the record for longest winning streak in the UFC’s lightweight division.

Undefeated at 15-0 in his professional MMA career, the UFC really needs to step up the 25-year-old’s next opponent. You can’t deny that he is talent and has the potential to be a future champ, but his next foe could seal the deal.

Beating Gomi, although not ranked in the top-15, should give Jury someone high in the top-10 next to prove his worth. If he wins his next bout, then he will inch himself very close to title contention.

At the UFC Fight Night 52 post-fight press conference, Jury made it clear that they can’t deny him the title forever.

“I feel like if I just keep doing the right things right and taking fights and getting better as a martial artist, they can’t deny me for the title forever.”
