Austin gets a wicked co-main event in the form of two top 15 lightweights; Bobby Green and Edson Barboza in what could very well be the co-main event.
This news was confirmed on UFC Tonight on Wednesday.
Green (23-5) has been on a role since joining the UFC in early 2013. Debuting with a submission victory over Jacob Volkman, Green went on to score a bizarre TKO over James Krause at Fight For The Troops 3. It was after this fight that Green really solidifed himself as a top 10 lightweight, defeating Pat Healy and Josh Thomson via decision, the latter being on just 2 weeks notice.
Barboza (14-2) was widely considered to be the next big thing at lightweight upon his promotional debut. Starting off his UFC career 4-0, with wins over Terry Etim, Ross Pearson and Anthony Njokuani, Barboza went on to get upset by Jamie Varner at UFC 146 after Varner finished him with strikes in the first round. Since the loss he is 4-1, only losing to Donald Cerrone. His latest win happened in July after Barboza stopped Evan Dunham in round 1 following a liver kick and some punches.
This fight will be the co-main event.
UFC Fight Night 57 is expected to take place on November 22 at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin, Texas.
