Sydney gets a fun lightweight clash in the form of Ross Pearson and Serra-Longo prospect; Al Iaquinta.

UFC officials confirmed the match-up late Thursday.

Pearson (16-7-1) has been in top form lately. He is coming off of a TKO victory over Gray Maynard this past August. Before the Maynard fight, Pearson dropped a highly controversial split decision to the crowd favorite Diego Sanchez in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This was his only loss since returning to the UFC’s lightweight division in December 2012 following a brief stint at featherweight.

Iaquinta (9-3-1) has been considered to be a top prospect for quite some time now. A finalist on season 15 of the Ultimate Fighter, Iaquinta lost in the finals to Michael Chiesa. After the defeat, Iaquinta went on a 3-fight win streak beating Kevin Lee, Piotr Hallman and Ryan Couture all via decision. Following a submission loss to Mitch Clarke in May, Iaquinta most recently defeated Rodrigo Damm by TKO in September.

This bout will serve as the co-main event of the evening.

UFC Fight Night 55 is expected to take place in Sydney, Australia at the Allphones Arena on November 7.
