If you have never played Kountermove before, it’s very simple — you have $25,000 to spend. To make the most of your money, you will more than likely not be able to take more than one favorite. With a team of five, you will look to stay at about a $5,000 average

Best Bets

Sergio Pettis ($5100) – The younger Pettis brother will be in his brother’s shadow at UFC 181, but that will likely be a good thing. He comes into this bout against Matt Hobar with one blemish on his record. Since that loss he defeated Yaotzin Meza and will fight for the second time in 2014. Pettis’ striking and pressure should be a good bet for a finish against Hobar.

Urijah Faber ($5400) – Faber is one of the highest favorite’s on the card and for good reason. He is the number three ranked bantamweight in the world, yet he is fighting number 11 in Francisco Rivera. Rivera has never faced anyone as talented as Faber and will be pushed to the limit.

Underdog Picks

Gilbert Melendez ($4900) – Melendez has been a force to be reckon with in the lightweight division for years now and will showcase his skills inside the Octagon for only the third time. There are a ton of people that think the Cesar Gracie product will be too much for the champ, Anthony Pettis. This could be the case, as he has tremendous boxing and his BJJ is very good. For that he is a decent underdog pick.

Brendan Schaub ($4100) – Schaub’s opponent, Travis Browne hasn’t fought inside the cage since his April loss to Fabricio Werdum, while Schaub was active in June against Andre Arlovski. Yes, he lost that bout, but in almost everyone’s eyes he was the victor. Schaub will be looking to rebound from that loss and could come out the same way he did after the loss to Ben Rothwell against Lavar Johnson — smother him.
