Anderson Silva receives hard punishment following NSAC hearing

Chris Weidman vs Anderson Silva

After months of delays following his positive test for both anti-anxiety and performance enhancing drugs in the run-up to his fight with Nick Diaz at UFC 183, Anderson Silva finally had his hearing before the Nevada State Athletic Commission today. With the NSAC toughening up on PED users, “The Spider’s” attempt at weaving a tale of tainted sexual enhancement drugs was laughed off by the Commissioners. In fact, Silva’s defense was littered with scattershot translation, unprepared witnesses, and missing documents. It was, in the parlance of today, an “epic fail.”

The Nevada State Athletic Commission handed down the following punishments to the former UFC middleweight kingpin: A one year suspension retroactive to the date of the failed drug test, his win over Nick Diaz was turned into a no-contest, and fined for the entirety of his win bonus and 30% of his show money.

There has been no word yet from Silva’s camp as to what the former champ’s plans for the future will be. Stay tuned to MMASucka.com for more on this and other MMA news.
