Edgar is coming off a unanimous decision win over Urijah Faber at UFC Fight Night 66 earlier this year. Prior to that, he dominated Cub Swanson and submitted him in the fifth round with only seconds to go.

Mendes is coming off a second-round TKO loss to Conor McGregor at UFC 189 when he fought for the interim belt. Prior to that, he stopped top five Ricardo Lamas via knockout in round one.
