It was an auspicious night for “Mr.  Wonderful” Phil Davis in his promotional debut at Bellator 142. After submitting Emmanuel Newton with a kimura in the first round of their light heavyweight tournament semi-final, the Man in Pink would take on reserve bout winner Francis Carmont in the finals after the intended competitor, Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal, pulled out with a rib injury. Davis showcased an aggressive striking attack and put the Tristar product down with a leaping left hook, and finished him soon after with strikes on the ground. With the bout ending officially at 2:15 of Round 1, Davis was crowned the tournament winner, and given a #1 Contender’s belt.
