Top 5 Prelims for December 2015

The final month of the year is upon us and with it comes arguably the best month of cards in UFC history. The first of four cards of the month kicks off a busy end of the week as UFC Fight Night: Namajunas vs. VanZant takes place on Thursday, December 10, 2015. The very next night is The Ultimate Fighter: Team McGregor vs. Team Faber Finale. Ending three straight nights of fights is one of the biggest cards in UFC history as UFC 194: Aldo vs. McGregor takes place on December 12, 2015. Closing out the calendar year is UFC on FOX: dos Anjos vs. Cerrone 2 on December 19, 2015.

Top 5 Prelims for December 2015

Each card possesses an impressive main card, but what should not be overlooked is some of the great preliminary bouts that the month of December has. With that being said, check out our top five prelims for the month of December below.

  1. Tim Means vs. John Howard (UFC Fight Night: Namajunas vs. VanZant)

Tim Means has been impressive as of late and has shown that he has amongst the most dynamic striking in the welterweight division. John Howard on the other hand has only won one of his last four fights and knows he will have to put on an impressive performance and he has the power to finish just about anyone. This should make for an entertaining striking match-up and that is why it comes in at number five on our list.

  1. Josh Samman vs. Tamdan McCrory (UFC on FOX: dos Anjos vs. Cerrone 2)

Josh Samman has seemed to become a big fan favorite and has delivered his last few fights out with all three of his UFC wins coming by way of stoppage. Samman takes on the returning Tamdan McCrory who is coming off of two impressive stoppages in his last two fights in Bellator. Neither guy is too well known, but this fight should surely deliver and will likely not go the distance.

  1. Charles Oliveira vs. Myles Jury (UFC on FOX: dos Anjos vs. Cerrone 2)

Charles Oliveira and Myles Jury are both up-and-comers in this sport who have already proven that they have championship level potential. After suffering his first career defeat, Jury decided to drop down to the featherweight division and is taking on a top 10 ranked opponent in Oliveira. Both men have some of the highest level of grappling in the UFC and it should make for a very intriguing grappling exchange.

  1. Urijah Faber vs. Frankie Saenz (UFC 194: Aldo vs. McGregor)

Urijah Faber is one of the biggest names in the sport period. Whenever a former champion is on the prelims it is a must watch prelim. It will be no easy fight for “The California Kid” though as he takes on Frankie Saenz who is on a seven fight winning streak and is undefeated in the UFC. Faber is far and away the biggest name on any of the prelims in December and that is why it comes in at the second spot on our list.

  1. Aljamain Sterling vs. Johnny Eduardo (UFC Fight Night: Namajunas vs. VanZant)

Not only does this fight include one of the biggest up-and-comers in the entire sport, but it also may very well have title implications as both are ranked in the top 10 of the bantamweight division. Aljamain Sterling has looked flawless in his UFC career thus far and was able to dominate a perennial top 10 fighter in Takeya Mizugaki his last time out as he picked up an arm-triangle choke submission victory to improve his record to 11-0. The 26-year-old will take on a much more experienced Johnny Eduardo at UFC Fight Night: Namajunas vs. VanZant. Eduardo who has been fighting professionally since 1996 is coming off of the biggest win of his career as well as he pulled off the huge upset against Eddie Wineland over a year ago. It will be interesting to see how the fight will play out as both can hold their own wherever it goes and that is why it tops our list as the best prelim for the month of December.
