Rizin likely to return with Fedor in April, another Grand-Prix in August

After a very entertaining pair of inaugural shows to cap off 2015, it seems as though Rizin has more plans for 2016, and they plan on bringing Emelianenko along for the ride.

Fedor Emelianenko returned from a three-year long retirement on the final day of Rizin’s three-day stay in Japan. The MMA legend took on former K-1 champion Jaideep “Heart” Singh and dispatched of him without much struggle 3 minutes into the first round using his famous ground-and-pound attack. This was Emelianenko’s fourth-straight victory, but his first since June of 2012.

Emelianenko told RSport.ru (via Bloody Elbow) about when he would like to return and also spoke about the promotions plans to do another Grand-Prix.

“The next fight is scheduled for April. In my opinion, it will be here in Japan, in cooperation with the company Rizin. Just know that the company is planning a tournament next August and is in talks with Bellator and other organizations. There is another chance of a joint project. For me it would be convenient to enter the ring in April — four months to relax a bit and with new team before preparing for the next battle.”

Nothing even close to officially confirmed in regards to Fedor’s potential opponent, or the weight class that will be featured in the upcoming Grand-Prix, but clearly plans are in place.
