UFC Ottawa begins to shape up with addition of multiple fights

A handful of bouts have been added to UFC Fight Night 89, which will mark the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s return to Canada as well as its debut event in Ottawa, Ontario, the country’s capital city. The below matchups were confirmed by the organization on Tuesday afternoon.

  • Elias Theodorou vs. Sam Alvey – middleweight
  • Steve Bosse vs. Sean O’Connell – light heavyweight
  • Tamdan McCrory vs. Krzysztof Jotko – middleweight
  • Jason Saggo vs. Leandro Silva – lightweight
  • Misha Cirkunov vs. Ion Cutelaba – light heavyweight
  • Olivier Aubin-Mericier vs. Thibault Gouti – lightweight
  • Alex Garcia vs. Colby Covington – welterweight

UFC officials also confirmed the event’s venue: The Arena at TD Place.

UFC Fight Night 89 takes place live from The Arena at TD Place in Ottawa, Ontario on June 18. In the main event, former UFC welterweight title challenger Rory MacDonald squares off with rising star Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson in a pivotal five-round 170-pound bout. Top lightweight contender Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone faces Canadian veteran Patrick Cote in a welterweight bout in the co-main event.
