A pair of marquee match-ups are expected to take place at UFC on FOX 20, as former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Holly Holm takes on Valentina Shevchenko and Anthony “Rumble” Johnson squares off against Glover Teixeira.
Both match-ups were announced on Wednesday night’s edition of FOX’s “UFC Tonight.”
Holm (10-1) suffered the first blemish of her career at UFC 196 in March, as Miesha Tate rallied from behind and earned a submission victory to capture the 135-pound belt. Prior to that fight Holm had an impressive 10-0 record with a giant victory over Ronda Rousey at UFC 193.
Shevchenko (12-2) is 1-1 inside the Octagon with a split decision victory over Sarah Kaufman in her debut and most recently a decision loss against current number one contender Amanda Nunes at UFC 196. The kickboxing standout was on a four-fight winning streak when she entered the UFC and has nine finishes in her 12 victories.
Johnson (21-5) has been one of the most dangerous knockout fighters to ever enter the Octagon and has gone 5-1 since returning to the UFC in 2014. “Rumble” is currently on a two-fight winning streak with KO victories over Jimi Manuwa and most recently Ryan Bader at January’s UFC on FOX event.
Teixeira (25-4) is on a three-fight winning streak with all three of them coming via stoppage. He tapped out Ovince Saint Preux in August of last year, followed that up with a TKO against Patrick Cummins and most recently knocked out Rashad Evans at UFC on FOX 19 in April.
UFC on FOX 20 goes down on July 23 at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois. The UFC on FOX 20 fight card thus far is as follows.
