Tyrone Spong: I Expected a Little More from Manhoef

This past Saturday evening Tyrone Spong took on veteran striker Melvin Manhoef on the main card of the It’s Showtime 55 event in Leeuwarden, The Netherlands.

When thinking of these two strikers, most fans and media expected their to be some sort of spectacular finish. To our disappointment there wasn’t, however Spong dominated Manhoef to gain him the unanimous decision victory.

In an interview with Lowkick.com Spong admitted that he expected much more from his opponent Manhoef.

“I hadn’t fought for a long time, but it still went well, I felt good. Getting the W is most important, but I think it lived up (to expectations). At the same time, I expected a little more from (Manhoef). I was expecting him to show a little more aggressiveness and try to get at me, but he was a little bit easy. I hit him with a few good shots and I think he got scared.”

To find out what’s next for Spong he says, “Follow me on Twitter (@Tyrone_spong) and you’ll be the first ones to know – and watch out, I’m coming.”
