Tim Jenson out, Shawn Albrecht in to take on Graham Spencer at BFL 13

Toshido Martial Arts’ Tim Jenson has not fought since 2007 and it now looks like he won’t be fighting anytime soon. Jenson was expected to take on Impact MMA’s Graham Spencer at Battlefield Fight League 13 in Vernon, British Columbia on February 11.

MMASucka.com has learned through sources close to the event that Jenson pulled out due to injury.

Stepping in on short notice is West Coast BJJ’s Shawn Albrecht.

Albrecht is coming off of a split decision loss to Bruno Capdeville at BFL 7 back in March of 2011, but will get an opportunity to take on Spencer for the BFL Pro Featherweight Championship.

This will be the second time these two face off, Spencer defeated Albrecht by unanimous decision in their first tilt. Since their last meeting Spencer has gone 2-0 with wins over Mukai Maromo and Bruno Capdeville.

Both men are managed by Echelon FM, so the belt will stay within the family. MMASucka.com had the chance to chat with manager Darcy McBride late last night and these were his comments.

It was brought to our attention late Friday evening by BFL President Jay Golshani that Tim Jensen had suffered an injury and would not be able to compete at BFL 13. After feverishly trying to find a replacement, the offer was given to Shawn Albrecht to step in and take the fight. Shawn was to face Roy Bradshaw on the same card and had a strong camp. After coming to terms with BFL on a new contract arrangement, and speaking with Spencer’s camp, we have decided that it makes sense for both guys.

I have stated from the inception of Echelon FM that managed fighters will only fight each other for title opportunities. This was me sticking to my word with this fight, and I’m glad we were able to save this fight. As the manager of both guys, I wish them both the best, and will be there for both men afterward.

Who will come out on top this time? Will Albrecht be able to avenge his loss to Spencer from 2009? Or will Spencer have Albrecht’s number? We will see on February 11 in Vernon, BC.
