Brave 15 Results – Brazil dominates in Colombia, topped by Godofredo Pepey’s first-round finish over “Rolo”

The always fantastic Brave Combat Federation hosted the first ever global mixed martial arts event in the history of Colombia with Brave 15.

Live from the Coliseo Bicentenario in Bucaramanga, Colombia,  the show was topped with UFC veteran Godofredo Pepey taking on fellow TUF/UFC veteran Alex “Rolo” Torres.

Brave 15 featured fighters from Argentina, Brazil, Peru, Mexico, and of course, Colombia.

In a fight card that featured seven fights, six fights saw a quick first-round finish. The event held pivotal fights with big implications across multiple divisions, and Brazil dominated the night. Winning all seven of the fights on the card, ushering in the arrival of new blood within Brave CF.

Topping off the stellar card, Godofredo Pepey made it 7-for-7 on behalf of Brazil in the main event. Pepey controlled “Rolo” Torres from the beginning, until the eventual end later in round one. The Brazilian slithered his way to the back of Torres and sunk in a body triangle. As “Rolo” looked to overcome the position, Pepey trapped him in an inescapable armbar, sealing his first non-UFC win since 2011.

In the co-main event, Gabriel Miranda showed the fans and his division why he is considered a breakout star within Brave CF. He picked up his thirteenth win as a professional, and twelfth submission. Fernando Noriega looked to take Miranda to the mat early, but lost his footing and found himself in a guillotine. It took Miranda just 72-seconds to tap Noriega.

Following a dominant debut with the promotion earlier this year, Cleiton Silva returned. He had an impressive reach advantage over Marcelos Busto and was able to work from within his distance and force Busto to fight mostly on the defensive. Silva eventually, mid-way through round one, took the fight to the mat and won with a rear naked choke.

Ricardo Tirloni proved his dominance yet again with a dominant performance against Ramon Cardozo. The Brazilian was the aggressor throughout, slipping Cardozo’s bombs and firing back with precise shots. This fight made it to round two, with Tirloni wrapping up an anaconda choke to submit Cardozo.

Geraldo Coelho came back from being locked in an armbar early to knockout Jaime Cordova with a right hook 80-seconds into round one. Colombian regional champion Diego Otalora was rocked by a leg kick and right hook in the opening seconds against Mauricio Reis. As the Brazilian rushed in for the kill, Otalora tossed him to the mat. This led to Reis immediately rolling for a leglock to force the tap in round one, submitting the Colombian hometown favorite.

In the opening bout of the show, Matias Juarez was under heavy fire from Eduardo Garvon early. The Brazilian eventually turned his striking pressure into ground-and-pound. As Juarez gave up his back, Garvon secured a rear naked choke.

Seven fights, seven wins for Brazil. A clean sweep with seven finishes, six in the first round.
