Thai-Malaysian striker Aliff Sor Dechapan secured a ONE Strawweight Muay Thai World Championship opportunity after handing teenage sensation Ramadan Ondash his first promotional defeat via unanimous decision at ONE Fight Night 38 on Friday, December 5, at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
During the post-fight interview, ONE Championship commentator Mitch Chilson confirmed that Aliff will challenge reigning titleholder Prajanchai PK Saenchai for the strawweight belt in his next appearance.
The victory improved Aliff’s record to 62-9 while positioning him as the division’s top contender following a performance that showcased maturity and finishing ability against one of Muay Thai’s most promising young stars.
Aliff Executes Muay Thai Masterclass Against Rising Phenom
Aliff and Ondash engaged in a compelling battle between emerging talents, with both competitors showcasing exceptional Muay Thai striking throughout the opening rounds.
The contest remained competitive until the decisive third frame, when the Thai-Malaysian landed a critical knockdown that shifted momentum definitively in his favor and convinced judges to award him the unanimous decision victory.
Aliff explained how recognizing his opponent’s aggressive tendencies required careful defensive adjustments to preserve his advantage rather than recklessly pursuing a finish.
“When I got the knockdown, I had to be really careful because I knew that Ramadan would get up and he would try to knock me out to get his win. So, I played the game very carefully,” he said.
Physical Advantages Prove Decisive in Contender Clash
Beyond calculated technique, Aliff credited his physical attributes for creating advantages throughout the three-round battle.
The Thai-Malaysian contender emphasized how effectively utilizing his dimensions against the shorter opponent provided a foundation for controlling range and dictating engagement terms.
“I believe my height and reach advantage played a crucial role for this fight and I really needed to make use of that,” he explained.
Aliff’s ability to impose his preferred fighting distance while negating Ondash’s aggressive attacks showcased the complete game required to challenge for the ONE Strawweight Muay Thai World Title.
Confident Contender Issues Challenge to Divisional Champion
Following the post-fight announcement, Aliff expressed certainty about his championship opportunity while issuing a direct challenge to Prajanchai, who currently holds ONE Strawweight Muay Thai World Title.
The 21-year-old made clear his intentions to capture the “art of eight limbs” crown from the reigning king.
“I am confident that my next fight will be a title shot. You know, they also announced it in the ring, so I’m very confident. Prajanchai, I hope you’re ready for me. I am coming for your belt,” Aliff said.
The reigning champion has competed in over 400 professional bouts and established himself as one of Muay Thai’s most dominant forces, making him a formidable obstacle for any contender seeking gold.
