Alistair Overeem appeared before the Nevada State Athletic Commission earlier today to apply to be relicensed to fight following a suspension.

Overeem was initially denied a license when he was tested prior to UFC 146 and failed. The surprise test showed that he had elevated testosterone levels, not just slightly elevated, but a level of 14:1. The commissions T/E limit is well below that at 6:1. He was subsequently removed from the main event of UFC 146 and suspended.
“The Demolition Man” reapplied for a license on December 27, 2012. Prior to him being reinstated, Overeem voluntarily sent in five tests between June and November.
According to NSAC’s Keith Kizer, those tests all came back clean. In addition to those, he was tested by NSAC on November 16 and December 21.
Overeem is set to return to action on February 2 against Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva at UFC 156. Also on the stacked Super Bowl weekend card is UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo vs. Frankie Edgar, as well as former light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans vs. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira.
