Meet the lovely Allira Cohrs, future UFC Octagon girl

If you haven’t heard of Allira Cohrs yet, chances are you will in 2013.

The Australian bombshell — who is model, a presenter, a fitness guru, and a lover of life, amongst other things — is a huge fan of mixed martial arts and her goal in 2013 is to become one of the UFC’s Octagon girls.

MMASucka.com recently had the chance to sit down and talk to the Aussie native who is about to blow UFC fans off their seats. Here’s what she had to say.

______________________________________________________________________________

MMASucka.com: “When did you get into MMA?”

Allira Cohrs: “I’ve drifted in and out of it for five years, but really I’ve hunkered down and become a UFC addict for maybe the past three years. I just love the brutality of it. These guys are just so conditioned and go through so much to get to where they are to get their hand raised in the cage. I just love it. I’m hooked.”

MMASucka.com: “Why are you such a big fan of MMA?”

Cohrs: “I just love everything about it. I’m an avid MMA fan. I’m learning a lot about the sport but I love it. I’m having withdrawals because we haven’t had any UFC events in a few weeks. I love lying on the couch and watching my favourite sport. I like it better than the NFL and rugby.”

MMASucka.com: “Why is it your goal to be a UFC ring card girl?”

Cohrs: “As far as being UFC ring card girl, I just love it, I think it’s something I can do really well, so fingers crossed. I’ve been talking to Dana White for a while. He knows I wanna be a UFC Octagon girl. Here in Australia I do a lot of hosting. That’s where I’m comfortable, behind a camera. So I love presenting, and I told him that. I’m not going to say too much but the meeting went pretty good and I was pretty happy.”

MMASucka.com: “What makes you a better Octagon girl than the girls already doing the job?”

Cohrs: “I don’t think it’s about being a better Octagon girl. It’s about adding a different element. I don’t think I’m better than anyone but I think I’ll bring another aspect. I’m a fiery little Aussie. We had two blonde girls for TUF Smashes and it was disappointing because you need that blonde to brunette ratio so I want to be that brunette Aussie Octagon girl. People really think I’m just a model and that’s all I do, but there’s so much more to me. Once they meet me they’re pleasantly surprised she actually has brains behind her face.”

MMASucka.com: “What was your first time in Las Vegas like (for UFC 155)?”

Cohrs: “Vegas is amazing. I can move there tomorrow. That place is insane. I can’t put into words how great that place was. UFC 155 was unbelievable. We were sitting ringisde and I could feel if someone got punched. The power of the punch, I could feel the hurt on that guy’s face. The atmosphere, it was like a big party. I was watching Arianny Celeste and Brittney Palmer walking around the ring thinking I wish that could be me.”

MMASucka.com: “What’s the MMA scene in Australia like?”

Cohrs: “Everyone in Australia is training to be an MMA fighter. Classes are popping up everywhere. People are hoooked on the UFC now. It was underground before, but now everyone is watching it and it’s going to get bigger and better. Hopefully we can get some more shows but we’re trying to get the ban lfited on cages in Melbourne so the UFC can go down there.”

MMASucka.com: “Who’s your favourite MMA fighter?”

Cohrs: “I’m a BJ Penn girl. It was so sad to see him go down the way he did, but like Dana said he has nothing left to prove. He’s one of my favourites. I love Benson Henderson, there’s just something about him, I can’t take my eyes off him when he fights, I can’t wait to see what happens next. I have a big big heart for James Te Huna, Dylan Andrews and Mark Hunt. They’re Kiwi- Aussies and they’re killing it. I saw James a couple weeks ago and his conditioning is out of this world. And Dylan Andrews is going to be on TUF 17, he’s hungry and he has a bright future. Also Hector Lombard is as Aussie as it comes. He lived here for God knows how long. I’ve crossed paths with him. Just because he lives in Florida doesn’t mean he’s not Australian. He’s a really good fighter and I’ve never seen someone so big and conditioned in my life.”

MMASucka.com: “Do you practise MMA yourself?”

Cohrs: “I just started kickboxing. It’s something that we incorporate into our workouts here. I’m going full steam this year. I also love the methodical side of BJJ but I don’t know if it’s for me. I’ve watched people do it and it’s so hard. I love boxing though. I’m gonna do a little bit of muay Thai and kickboxing and see how it goes.”

MMASucka.com: “What’s the typical day in the life of Allira Cohrs?”

Cohrs: “I wake up up at 6 o’clock in the morning, I have breakfast, then I work. I’m a personal trainer when I don’t model. I have clients to train and get fit. I’m training them, then I train myself and come back, go to the beach and hang out. That’s about it really. It’s a pretty tough life (laughs)”

MMASucka.com: “You’re in fantastic shape. When did fitness become such a huge part of your life?”

Cohrs: “It’s always been really dominant in my life, but I really trapped into it three years ago. I became a certified personal trainer two years ago. I have to be fit, because if I’m fat I can’t get any clients (laughs). As well, I’ve been involved with modelling since I’ve been three years old. I’m a show pony and I enjoy being in the spotlight. That’s where I’m best.”

MMASucka.com: “As far as your workout goes, what’s included in it?”

Cohrs: “I do a lot of HIT work, body weight exercises, 1000 rep circuits, cross fit — I’m just trying to push my body to the limit.”

MMASucka.com: “What’s your diet like?”

Cohrs: “I’m a Mike Dolce diet girl. I live by Dolce’s diet. He’s taught me how to eat properly. It’s not just for MMA fighters, it’s for anybody. As for supplements, it kinda changes with me. I’ve kinda tapered down and taken it down to basics. Protein, caffeine, glutamine, multivitamins, I keep it basic and it does the job. If I have to many my body freaks out.”

MMASucka.com: “Do you drink?”

Cohrs: “Before I went to Vegas I hadn’t drank in eight months. I think all those things can wait because right now I’m trying to sieze the opportunity. I find if I drink, it just pushes me back, so why even put that category in my life when I want to keep moving forward?”

MMASucka.com: “At 26, do you believe you’re in the prime of your career?”

Cohrs: “I think 25-32 is the epitome of being a young woman. You’re in your prime, you’re smart, you’ve learned from your mistakes. Your body has stopped growing and you gotta take what you got and you just roll with it.”

MMASucka.com: “You’re all over social media. How important is it for you to interact with your fans on Twitter, Facebook, etc.?”

Cohrs: “A lot. I really enjoy inspiring somebody as far as a photo or a tweet. I just enjoy helping people. When I’m not a personal trainer or modelling I also work in medical so I have that emphatic side to help people. I have that nurturing element to me and I like to help people.”

MMASucka.com: “What’s next for Allira Cohrs in 2013?”

Cohrs: “At the moment I have my Allira app for iPhone and Andorid. It’s a sort of a mixture of everything in one place. This app is bringing all of my things together. As well, I keep telling myself I am gonna be a UFC Octagon girl. It’s not a matter of when, I will be. I will be because everything I put my mind to it happens. I’m getting there, I talked to Dana, had a good chat in Vegas so fingers crossed. I’m actually in the process of designing my own jewelry line as well. I’m always on the go and I don’t get much sleep because I’m always thinking about things to do. I can’t wait for 2013. It’s going to be a fantastic year.”

MMASucka.com: “Anyone in particular you want to thank?”

Cohrs: “I just want to thank all my friends on Twitter for pushing me. There’s so many, there’s a guy here in Australia named Mad Dog, he’s just amazing. I’m forever to grateful to a lot of people. Everyone keep watching, because this is going to be an amazing year for Allira Cohrs.”
