Alves vs. Kampmann Now Official for UFC on FX 2

It looks like Martin Kampmann (18-5) will be squaring off against Thiago Alves (19-8) on for UFC on FX 2 card which is tentatively slated for March 3. The UFC has confirmed this bout but the location and venue are still in the works.

There is no doubt that this is a pivotal fight that could bring one of these fighters one step closer to a title shot in the welterweight division.  It would definitely put them in the conversation.

Kampmann defeated Rick Story by decision at UFC 139 in San Jose, Calif. and has been very vocal in wanting to eventually fight Nick Diaz. A big win over Thiago Alves could set up a future date.  Alves is coming off an impressive submission win over Papy Abedi at UFC 138 in Birmingham, England.

This match up makes sense and it will be interesting to see what happens in the UFC‘s welterweight division in 2012. Keep it locked on MMASucka.com for more details.
