Amanda Nunes Submits Megan Anderson in Round 1

UFC 259 is currently in progress and the women’s featherweight title fight is in the books. You can keep up with results as they happen here.

Amanda Nunes secures armbar to defeat Megan Anderson

Amanda Nunes entered this fight as an overwhelming favorite to keep her title and turn back Megan Anderson in the process. She is simply put, one of the best fighters on earth. She can’t be played with on the feet or on the canvas. She’s just a joy to watch. She clipped Anderson in the early moments and then dropped her with another series of strikes.

Nunes wasted no time looking for the submission and ended up tying up both a triangle and armbar and was able to crank on the arm and earn the first-round submission victory. There are simply no fighters out there to test her at 145 pounds, and to be honest, she’ll dominate 135 as well. She’s just on a level all her own.

After the fight, the champion, Amanda Nunes, had the following to say. “Thank you, thank you this is amazing. There are a lot of girls out there who want this opportunity.” She went on to add about her abilities. “I think as I’m getting older I’m getting good, I’ve found my balance.”
