It was announced on Monday that Gilbert Melendez had re-signed with the UFC and would be granted a lightweight title shot against Anthony Pettis after coaching The Ultimate Fighter 20.

Our friends at Bodog.ca have Pettis opening as a slight favorite at -180, with Melendez a +150 underdog.
Melendez (22-3) was in contract negotiations after a unanimous decision victory against Diego Sanchez. That fight earned both combatants ‘Fight of the Night’ honors and bounced him back from his loss to Benson Henderson for the lightweight title in his UFC debut.
Pettis (17-2) won the UFC lightweight championship at UFC 164 when he arm-barred Benson Henderson early in the first round. “Showtime” is currently riding a four-fight winning streak, with all but one coming by first round finish. He was expected to face Josh Thomson in his first title defense at UFC on FOX 9, however was forced out of the bout with a knee injury.
TUF 20 will feature women’s strawweight fighters will begin filming in May and debut on FOX Sports 1 on September 10.
