Jimy Hettes has had to pull out of his bout with Boston’s own Charles Rosa next Sunday due to an injury, in his place steps Augusto Mendes, who was set to fight for the Legacy FC bantamweight title next month against Ricardo Ramos.

The replacement was first reported by OlimpoMMA.

‘Tanquinho’ Mendes (5-0) is a world champion in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and currently undefeated as a professional mixed martial artist. Fighting out of the MMA Lab in Arizona, Mendes has finished all five of his professional bouts, including one (T)KO and four submissions.

Boston’s own Charles Rosa (10-2) is 1-2 since joining the UFC roster in late-2014. Much like Mendes here, Rosa also made his UFC debut on one-weeks notice when he took on long-time UFC-vet Dennis Siver in Sweden. The CES MMA veteran lost his debut in a Fight of the Night effort and rebounded with a submission win over Sean Soriano. In his most recent outing, Rosa lost a split decision to Yair Rodriguez in Mexico, yet again earning himself Fight of the Night honors in the process.

The fight will take place on the preliminary portion of UFC Fight Night 81, also known as; UFC Boston.

UFC Boston takes place at the TD Garden on January 17 and will be headlined by a highly-anticipated bantamweight title fight between TJ Dillashaw and former champion Dominick Cruz. The co-main event features an important lightweight contest between former champion Anthony Pettis and former Bellator champion Eddie Alvarez. Also on the card; heavyweights Matt Mitrione and Travis Browne.
