Belal Muhammad Earns Decision Against Dhiego Lima at UFC 258

The number 13 next to Belal Muhammad‘s name will likely change to something closer to the number 10 after his impressive victory over Dhiego Lima at UFC 258.

Belal Muhammad Shows Precision at UFC 258

The two welterweights did battle on the ESPN preliminary card of the UFC 258 broadcast.

In round one Muhammad landed an impressive 46 strikes. He dictated the pace of the round and kept Lima with his back against the cage. The only significant strikes for Lima were his leg kicks.

Much the same in the second round. We saw Lima’s improved takedown defense and well-utilized leg kicks, however, the forward pressure of Muhammad was once again too much for Lima.

In round three, Muhammad left no room for Lima to get off anything other than leg kicks. And continued with forward pressure, beautiful precision boxing and well-timed grappling exchanges.

Muhammad landed an outstanding 124 significant strikes to Lima’s 64.

In the end, the judges gave all three rounds to Muhammad, 30-27, 30-27, 30-27.

Following the fight, Muhammad spoke with UFC commentator Joe Rogan and had a name in mind for his next fight, “Hey Li Jingliang, you’re right above me man. You’re taking everything I worked for, you’re number 12, I’m 13, let’s do it.”

Muhammad is riding a four-fight winning streak and is 9-3 in his UFC tenure.
