Bellator Announces Fedor Emelianenko’s Next Fight Will Be in Moscow, Russia

At a virtual press conference on June 25, Bellator CEO Scott Coker, alongside ‘Big’ John McCarthy, announced in regards to the all-time great heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko. Bellator Announces Fedor Emelianenko’s next fight will be scheduled to take place October 23 at VTB Arena in Moscow, Russia. Emelianenko’s next opponent has not yet been confirmed.

“I’m feeling great, I’m ready to fight.” Emelianenko said through a translator, “Training with the younger guys. I’m back in shape.”

“I understand my career will not be lasting too much longer,” Emelianenko continued, “And I want to make the best of it. For right now, I want to stand as much as I can and have fun in the cage.”

“We’re going through the process of finding an opponent still,” Bellator CEO Scott Coker said regarding Fedor Emelianenko’s next fight, “We’ve had lots of offers.”

“He’s the Goat.” John McCarthy said at the virtual press conference. He’s the former PRIDE Heavyweight champion, RINGS Openweight Champion, Multiple time Combat Sambo gold medalist, PRIDE 2004 Heavyweight Grand Prix Champion, WAMMA Heavyweight Champion, Sports Illustrated Fighter of The Decade, Yahoo! Sports Fight of the Decade, Bleacher Report MMA Hall of Fame, and needs no introduction for MMA fans. Emelianenko was undefeated from 2001 to 2010 and is considered the greatest Heavyweight of all time. Emelianenko holds a record of 9-1 against UFC champions and 39-6 (1 NC) overall.

The Russian-born heavyweight has been in and out of retirement since 2012, and has been fighting with Bellator since 2017, and has gone 3-2 in the Coker-led promotion. Emelianenko was hospitalized earlier this year due to COVID-19 and has recovered. Fedor Emelianenko’s next fight will be his sixth MMA fight with the promotion.

Bellator has not yet announced an opponent for this date. Fedor Emelianenko’s next fight will be expected to happen on October 23rd, 2021 at the VTB Arena in Moscow, Russia. “The next wave of Bellator fighters are from Russia,” Coker said.

“I have two fights left on my contract with Bellator.” Emelianenko said, and added, “If the third fight happens it depends on how I feel. It will either be in America or Russia, but it depends how I feel.”
