Muhammed Lawal vs. Emanuel Newton rematch now for interim light heavyweight title

Muhammed Lawal vs. Emanuel Newton rematch now for interim light heavyweight title

John Pollock of The Fight Network confirmed the news earlier today via his Twitter account.

“The Hardcore Kid” Emmanuel Newton (21-7-1) shot to prominence earlier this year after defeating the former Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Champion with a skull-crushing spinning backfist. The driven brawler, known as much for his post-fight hardcore dancing as he is for his tremendous heart, would go on to win that season’s 205 lbs. tournament. With champion Atilla Veigh injured, will “The Hardcore Kid” be able to make lightning strike twice and win Bellator gold?.

Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal (21-7, 1 N/C) came in to Bellator riding on the back of quite a hype train. The light-heavyweight wrestler, who was a teammate of Daniel Cormier at the University of Oklahoma, was expected to run roughshod over the competition in his first Bellator tournament. Now, after gaining redemption via a sound thrashing of former teammate Jacob Noe to win the light heavyweight Summer Series, “King Mo” will now be looking for revenge against the man who put his lights out earlier this year. Can Lawal even the score amd capture gold in his new home?

Bellator on PPV goes down on November 2nd at the. Thr main event is a lightweight title rematch pitting Michael Chandler against the man he defeated for the title, Eddie Alvarez. Stay tuned to MMASucka.com for more on this and other upcoming events.
