Biggest Winners and Losers from UFC 186

UFC 186: Johnson vs. Horiguchi was live from the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada on April 25, 2015.

Due to injuries and a failed drug test, the card was a shell of what it once was. Nonetheless, the card moved on and it was main evented by a UFC Flyweight Championship fight as the defending champion Demetrious ‘Mighty Mouse’ Johnson took on the rising Kyoji Horiguchi.

Just like at every event, UFC 186 saw a bunch of fighters take a big step forward in their career, whereas others were not so successful. With that being said, check out our biggest winners and losers from UFC 186 below.

Winners:

Demetrious Johnson

Demetrious Johnson is absolutely spectacular. ‘Mighty Mouse’ once again successfully defended his title at UFC 186 against Kyoji Horiguchi in what was a dominating performance. The UFC Flyweight Champion likely had every single round in the books, but that did not stop him from looking for the finish. In what was the latest stoppage in UFC history, ‘Mighty Mouse’ was able to pick up the armbar victory at 4:59 of Round 5. It marked Johnson’s sixth successful title defense and he proved once again why he is one of the best fighters in the world.

Michael Bisping

Michael Bisping had never lost back-to-back fights in his entire career and at UFC 186 he was looking to avoid just that as he took on C.B. Dollaway. In what was a very exciting fight, Bisping had to show his resiliency and toughness, as he was hurt badly and knocked down in the first round. ‘The Count’ was able to get through the round and ultimately was able to win the next two on his way to a unanimous decision victory. ‘The Ultimate Fighter 3’ light heavyweight winner was able to pick up a vital win that will keep him among the top 10 of the middleweight division where he has been for so long.

Losers:

Fábio Maldonado

Fábio Maldonado took on the returning Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson at UFC 186 and put on a disappointing performance. It was a match-up where both guys were willing to stand and trade for the entirety of the fight. Maldonado was bested by ‘Rampage’ and lost the decision. The bigger issue in the situation is that Maldonado takes far too much damage in almost every one of his fights. It is a style that Maldonado loves and is the way all his fights go, but it is surely worrisome for his future.

Sarah Kaufman

Sarah Kaufman took on Alexis Davis at UFC 186 in a fight where she had not too much to gain, but a lot to lose. Kaufman had already beat Davis two times before and beating the same person for a third time would not do too much for her. Unfortunately for Kaufman, she was unsuccessful this time and lost the fight via armbar at 1:52 of Round 2. Kaufman had waited for over a year to get back in the Octagon and after all that waiting she was unsuccessful in her efforts.
