Biggest Winners and Losers from UFC Fight Night 64

UFC Fight Night: Gonzaga vs. Cro Cop 2 (UFC Fight Night 64) was live from the Tauron Arena Kraków in Kraków, Poland on April 11, 2015.

The main event for the UFC’s debut in Poland was a rematch almost eight years in the making as Gabriel Gonzaga took on MMA legend Mirko Cro Cop for the second time. The first fight ended in one of the most memorable finishes in UFC heavyweight history as Gonzaga had a highlight reel head kick knockout of a man known for his highlight reel head kick knockouts in Cro Cop.

UFC Fight Night 64 saw many fighters take big steps forward in their career as well as other fighters having to take a step back. With that being said, check out our biggest winners and losers from UFC Fight Night 64 below.

Mirko Cro Cop

Mirko Cro Cop desperately wanted to avenge his loss against Gabriel Gonzaga and at UFC Fight Night 64 he did just that. Cro Cop lost the first two rounds, but did not quit and eventually got the devastating TKO stoppage at 3:30 of Round 3. It was some of the most vicious elbows from the guard that we have seen in quite some time and it left Gonzaga a bloody mess. Cro Cop was able to pick up his first UFC victory in almost five years. The MMA legend showed desire to continue fighting in his post fight interview and it will be interesting to see who he gets next.

Maryna Moroz

Maryna Moroz came into UFC Fight Night 64 as a huge underdog against the heavily favored Joanne Calderwood. It is not often that in your UFC debut you get to take on the #6 ranked fighter in your division, but that was the case for Moroz. ‘The Iron Woman’ made a statement within the division by making quick work of Calderwood as she submitted her via armbar at 1:30 of Round 1. Not only did she put on an impressive performance, but the 23-year-old also called out the champion Joanna Jędrzejczyk in her native country in her post fight interview. It is surely too soon for the Ukrainian to get a title shot, but she certainly made a name for herself at UFC Fight Night 64.

Gabriel Gonzaga

Gabriel Gonzaga was set to take on the man he beat in devastating fashion almost eight years ago at UFC Fight Night 64. Gonzaga had lots of success early in the fight, but in round 3 Cro Cop turned it on and hit Gonzaga with vicious elbows that would end his night. The TKO victory came at 3:30 of Round 3. Gonzaga has long been amongst the top 15 heavyweights in the world, but this marks his third straight loss and the first time in his career that he lost three in a row. ‘Napão’ will continue to be a staple in the UFC’s heavyweight division, but he is slowly working his way out of the top 15 in the division.

Seth Baczynski

Seth Baczynski was in a must win situation as he took on Leon Edwards at UFC Fight Night 64. Unfortunately for him, things did not go his way. ‘The Polish Pistola’ was on the losing end of an 8-second knockout. Although coming into UFC Fight Night 64 the 33-year-old had won back-to-back ‘Fight of the Night’ awards, he was on the losing end of both. Baczynski has now lost five out of his last six fights and his UFC future may be in jeopardy.
