Biggest Winners and Losers from UFC Fight Night 69

UFC Fight Night: Jędrzejczyk vs. Penne was live from the O2 World in Berlin, Germany on June 20, 2015.

The main event was the first ever title fight on UFC Fight Pass as UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion Joanna Jędrzejczyk looked to defend her title for the very first time against Jessica Penne. The co-main event was a match-up between two top 15 featherweights as veterans Dennis Siver and Tatsuya Kawajiri shared the octagon.

Just like at every event, UFC Fight Night 69 saw some fighters take a big step forward in their career with a big win, whereas others were not victorious and had to take a step back for the time being. With that being said, check out our biggest winners and losers from UFC Fight Night 69 below.

Winners

Joanna Jędrzejczyk

At UFC Fight Night 69, Joanna Jędrzejczyk proved once again why she is the best strawweight in the world. For the second fight in a row, Jędrzejczyk just dominated the fight from the start to the finish. The champion picked apart Penne on the feet for the entire fight until it was stopped via TKO at 4:22 of Round 3. Jędrzejczyk has far superior striking to everyone in the strawweight division and has shown fantastic takedown defense so it will take someone really special to take that title from her. Jędrzejcyk has everything it takes to be a star in the UFC and is the best thing that has ever happened to the strawweight division.

Makwan Amirkhani

At UFC Fight Night 69, Makwan Amirkhani entered the octagon for the second time. His first time was as good a debut as there could be as he beat Andy Ogle via TKO in just 8-second. The performance made a big splash, but Amirkhani was only getting started. During the post fight press conference, Amirkhani stole the show with his charisma. For his second fight, ‘Mr. Finland’ was set to take on Masio Fullen. In another impressive performance, the 26-year-old picked up another first round stoppage as he submitted Fullen via rear-naked choke at 1:41 of Round 1. Yet again, Amirkhani had another memorable post fight interview. Amirkhani seems to be doing absolutely everything right and could potentially become a star for the UFC in the future.

Losers

Jessica Penne

At UFC Fight Night 69, Jessica Penne challenged for the UFC Women’s Strawweight Championship, which came as a surprise to many. Penne was nearing a title shot, but many believed she needed another big win to get it, but nonetheless she was awarded the shot. Penne did her best to execute her gameplan and not stand with Jędrzejczyk because she was at a big disadvantaged, but was unable to do. Penne had trouble getting it to the ground and was completely shutout on the feet. The fight went on probably longer than it should have, as Penne was not offering much for the entirety of the fight. Penne is now back to the drawing board and will need many more wins before she gets another shot at the title.

Dennis Siver

At UFC Fight Night 69, Dennis Siver was looking to bounce back from his loss to Conor McGregor back in January. Siver took on another veteran of the sport in Kawajiri. The fight was a very forgettable one, but Siver was yet again unsuccessful as he lost the fight via unanimous decision. Siver has now lost back-to-back fights and has only one win since 2012. This loss will likely knock Siver out of the top 15 in the division and he will be in a must win situation his next fight out.
