Boetsch upsets Okami with incredible comeback KO

Tim Boetsch walked away with an amazing comeback knockout over Yushin Okami after being dominated by his Japanese opponent for two rounds.

Okami started the fight by keeping Boetsch on the end of his jab, cutting both of Boetsch’s cheeks. Okami battered Boetsch with punches and knees for much of the first two rounds, taking time in between to dominate the ground game as well.

With cornerman Matt Hume’s encouragement, Boetsch came out throwing bombs on Okami in the third and the strategy paid off as Boetsch landed repeatedly before putting Okami out for the night less than a minute into the final frame.

A victorious Boetsch commented after the fight: ”

“It still hasn’t settled in yet.  The first 2 rounds weren’t good, but I won the 3rd round and that’s what counts.  Yushin hit me harder than I expected, but I was standing at the end of his range so it was kind of my fault.  I knew I had to move forward, but the upper cuts were a spur of the moment thing.  Awesome night over all.  The next fight I’d like is Dan Henderson because he is a hero of mine and part of being great is beating your heroes. ”
