Brian Stann vs. Wanderlei Silva officially headlining UFC on FUEL TV 8

Two of the top sluggers in the UFC middleweight division will square off at UFC on FUEL TV 8, as Brian Stann meets Wanderlei Silva.

UFC officials announced on Wednesday that Stann and Silva will headline the previously announced fight card.

Stann (12-5) is coming off a decision loss to Michael Bisping in his last fight at UFC 152. This fight will be the former US Marine and former WEC Light Heavyweight Champion’s first time headlining a fight card in his UFC career.

Silva (34-12-1) is best known for his exciting fights in the Japanese PRIDE organization. He will be fighting in Japan for the first time since 2006, when he lost by knockout to the always dangerous Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic. “The Axe Murderer” held the PRIDE middleweight title for over five years, however since making his way to the UFC has had a rocky go with a record of 3-5 inside the Octagon.

Also announced today for the UFC on FUEL TV 8 fight card were Takanori Gomi vs. Diego Sanchez,Dong Hyun Kim vs. Siyar Bahadurzada, Riki Fukuda vs. Brad Tavares, Cristiano Marcello vs. Kazuki Tokudome, Takeya Mizugaki vs. Bryan Caraway, Alex Caceres vs. Kyung Ho Kang. As well as the previously announced fight between Stefan Struve and Mark Hunt.

UFC on FUEL TV 8 is set to go down from the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan on March 3, 2013.
