With Louis Gaudinot pulling out on one weeks notice with pneumonia, Nova Scotia’s own Chris Kelades will make his UFC debut against Paddy Holohan in Halifax.
UFC officials confirmed the news on Monday.
Kelades (7-1) is a real prospect in Canadian MMA who now has a chance to make an impact in the UFC on short notice in his own backyard. A product of Fit Plus MMA, Kelades is a veteran of ECC and is coming off a win over the always game Adrian Wooley in July. Of his 8 wins, two of them are via (T)KO, three of them are via chokes and two are by split decision.
Holohan (10-0-1) is a prospect fighting out of SBG Ireland under coach John Kavanagh alongisde Conor McGregor, Cathal Pendred, Aisling Daly and Gunnar Nelson. Holohan made his UFC debut in Ireland back in July. He made a huge impact, beating Josh Sampo by submission in round 1.
The bouts placement on the card has not been confirmed, but with the original bout with Louis Gauinot set for the main card, in all likelihood, this will be as well.
UFC Fight Night 54 takes place at the Scotiabank Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia on October 4.
