All week the talk in Las Vegas surrounding the Canelo Alvarez and Caleb Plant fight was what could Plant do differently that Canelo hadn’t seen thus far, we got that answer very quickly and swiftly.
It is Time We Give Canelo Alvarez The Crown He Deserves
While Plant did score some winning rounds on the scorecard, he was simply unable to handle the Canelo Alvarez freight train that was chasing him down the tracks all night long. While Plant would weather the storm for a while it all eventually came crashing down in the form of two knockdowns in round eleven.

Canelo Alvarez has proven to be the king of the sport of boxing in the year 2021. All due respect to heavyweight champion and star Tyson Fury, all due respect to the Japanese destroyer Naoya Inoue, and all due respect to anyone else that may be int he conversation but Alvarez is the straw that stirs the drink.
With his win though he also becomes the undisputed champion at super middleweight and it’s the first time that weight class has had such a champion. This gives him another accolade on a 16-year career that started at 15 years old and that accolade should be enough for fans, media, and pundits alike to give Canelo Alvarez the proper title he now deserves.
Canelo Alvarez is the Greatest Mexican Fighter of All-Time
The man most people consider to be the greatest Mexican boxer of all time currently is one Julio Caesar Chavez, not his son who has turned into the Bob Sapp of boxing.
No one is downplaying what Chavez was able to achieve in his career, a career that saw him conquer three weight classes and start his career 87-0 before suffering a draw and a loss in two of his next four fights.
He had big wins over names like Roger Mayweather, Meldeick Taylor and Hector Camacho. He had a style that made everyone who watched him fall in love with him as a fighter and he represented the pride of Mexico with that same style. Now though, we have a New Mexican superstar who is doing the same thing and is still building a resume that is on par with Chavez’s.
For Canelo Alvarez, he has dispatched every style that exists, he is the pound for pound best fighter in the world right now, he is an undisputed champion now which is something Chavez never achieved and he has defeated 16 former or current world champions. Alvarez has achieved all of this and he is still just 31 years old, when Chavez was 31 years old he was starting to wind down as the Whitaker draw and Randall loss would be right around the corner.
While there doesn’t seem to be a dropoff coming from Canelo Alvarez, he may be attempting to bite off more than he can chew with all the talk centring around a potential trilogy fight with Gennady Golovkin or moving up to light-heavyweight and going after those belts including the WBC and IBF champion Artur Beterbiev who is 16-0 with 16 knockouts so far.
If he continues to win at light heavyweight then this opinion honestly goes from being flexible to concrete because the career projection Canelo Alvarez is riding is already an all-time great from a Mexican standpoint. As far as an all-time standpoint? He isn’t far behind them either, we are witnessing one of the fighting careers that we will tell our kids about.
