Carlos Condit hopes to spoil the superfight between Georges St-Pierre and Anderson Silva

On November 17 at UFC 154, Carlos Condit will get a chance to unify his interim championship as he takes on the UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre.

St-Pierre has been out of action since April of 2011 due to a knee injury, however Condit has also been out of action for 9 months. He was not injured, but rather waiting for the champ to return to action. Many people did not agree with his decision, but we will now get to see who the true champion is at the 170lbs division.

Condit earned his shot at the champ when he beat Nick Diaz at UFC 143 this past February and also won the interim belt.

Many fans have been talking non-stop about a ‘superfight’ between UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva and GSP. This doesn’t bug Condit one bit, as he would like to play the role of the spoiler. He spoke with Ariel Helwani on “The MMA Hour” recently about his upcoming tilt with St-Pierre and the fact that people are talking about the aforementioned ‘superfight’.

“It doesn’t bug me, if anything it motivates me. The fact that I’m being looked past; it puts a fire under my ass. I love being the spoiler. I spoiled Nick Diaz vs. George St. Pierre and now I get to play that role again. The hype for a superfight between Georges and Anderson has been going on for a long time. The fight between me and Georges, there is not as much hype on it, but, I think we’re going to have a hell of a fight. People are going to be wondering why they weren’t excited about it after the fight.”

This fight is going to be one for the ages, regardless of whether you are rooting for the French-Canadian or not. Condit will be looking to surprise many MMA fans and hope to solidify his position as the true UFC welterweight champion.
