Carlos Condit Ready For The Opportunity To Be World Champion

It started out as a typical day for Carlos Condit until he got a certain call.

“It was going a pretty normal day,” said Condit. “I got up, went to the gym, was training as usual. I was having lunch, getting ready for my next training session and I got the call.”

What was the call?  The call was to announce that he would be replacing Nick Diaz and face UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St-Pierre at UFC 137 on October 29th in Las Vegas. What was Condit’s first reaction?

“I teared up and cried a little bit and then got really excited,” said Condit.

Normally you do not hear about fighters crying, but this was the exception to that rule.

“This is my dream, I have wanted this for the last ten years,” said Condit. “I have been working every single day giving blood, sweat and tears to this, and now, my hard work has finally paid off.”

Both Condit and St.Pierre both train with Greg Jackson down in New Mexico and Jackson has stated that he will not train either man for the upcoming fight. The big question is who will Condit train with heading into the fight?

“I’ll be training with Mike(Winkeljohn) and I’ll also be training with a guy named Chris Latrell, who is one of the founding members of Jackson’s,” said Condit. “He’s a guy I’ve trained with in the past, I’ve with in my most recent fights. I’m pretty confident and feel like I’m in really good hands.”

Condit knows this is a once in a lifetime opportunity and will do everything to be world champion.

“We are all training to be the best, training to be world champion,” said Condit. “Part of being a champion is promoting and selling fights and if your not willing to do that, then I don’t know about you being championship status.”
