Half-Cut Picks: UFC on FOX

At UFC 137 we didn’t do too badly. I had 3 wins 2 losses. I’d say that is pretty respectable. I skipped UFC 138. It was too quick of a turn around and I wanted to save my liver for UFC’s first foray on FOX. Cain Velasquez vs. Junior Dos Santos for the UFC Heavyweight Title on free television! Doesn’t get any better than that. Maybe if they showed the entire main card on TV that would be better. Not sure what the UFC was thinking.

Half-Cut UFC 137 Picks

This site is blessed with some good writers (I’m not one of them) who are usually pretty good at predicting fights. Nostradamus holds nothing on the MMASucka crew; well actually hang on, we’ll see on December 21, 2011 - that whole end of the world thing. Boy wouldn’t we look like a bunch of retards if the Mayans and Nostradamus were right.

The Friday October 21st Edition Of The Fight Club Chicago

Another Friday and another great edition of The Fight Club Chicago. Here is who will be on the show today:

Road to the Pro’s: Micah Brakefield #9

It's five weeks out from my rematch with Jer Kornelson. I finally got the chance to watch our first fight. Cognitive dissonance had me believe that the fight was a back and fourth battle, when in reality it was a sloppy sub par grappling match. My sub attempts were not set up and I gassed hard.

Behind the Shirt w/ Marc Wilson #3: Name Brand

For those who know me, you will know that part of my everyday work involves representing one of the longest running MMA Brands in existence – Punishment Athletics . With it’s recent resurgence I thought that it would make a great story to talk about Brands started by athletes, their differences and why it works for some but not others.

Fighting Ambition #6: My Motivation

It’s midnight and I just finished watching the movie “The Social Network”, I give it two thumbs up. It’s funny how Facebook has become this huge entity. It did remind though, that most billionaires are corrupt mental midgets.

Fighting Ambition #5 – Mental Impasse

I want to tell everyone, that my fight is no longer in January and has been moved to the spring. I’ll either be fighting in March or April. That is up to Battlefield and my coaches. The reason the fight was moved was for documentary production reasons, but really it is a blessing in disguise. It gives me a couple more months to prepare. God knows I need it.

Fighting Ambition #4 – Groin Pain

January 15th is the date. That is when I will be stepping into the cage for the very first time. A special thank you goes to Jay Golshani and the Battlefield Fight League. They will be having BattlefieldFL 5 at the River Rock Casino on January 15th and I am stoked to be a part of it.

Fighting Ambition #3 – Renewal

With a new haircut I continued my MMA journey. I walked into a barber shop in Port Moody and had my hair shaved off. They used a number two and it felt good. Why did I do it? I really don’t know. My hair was damaged due to the amount of sweat, and honestly, I was tired of dealing with it. It was time for renewal.

Fighting Ambition Blog #1

A few months back an idea was born. I thought wouldn’t it be cool to take an average Joe who loves the sport of MMA and give him six months to train in the sport and put him in a cage to fight. What we (mmasucka.com) thought would be cool is to document it. We found a hungry production team in VanWest Films and a documentary was born.
