It’s Friday morning and weigh-ins are at 7:00PM tonight. First thing I do every morning when I wake up is check my weight. Today I’m 4lbs over the 146lbs limit, which means I’ll have to do a little bit of weight cutting still. To be honest though 4lbs is nothing, I have done much bigger weight cuts in less time then I have to do this measly 4lbs. The weigh ins are at The Black Bear Martial Arts Center in Sandpoint, ID. And will being broadcast live at http://www.unifiedcombatleague.com/ and you can catch the fights here on MMASucka.com on Saturday.
Dave “Pee-Wee” Herman (21-3) is set to face Roy Nelson (16-7) this Saturday night at UFC 146. In mixed martial arts there are many characters and Herman can be one of the most intriguing one of all. He comes off as someone who just doesn’t care and when you sit down and talk to him you have to be ready to connect the dots...lalalala. [...]
This Saturday night Daniel Cormier (9-0) is ready for a fight. Not only is this the biggest challenge of his young MMA career, but it's also a chance to make a statement. A win over Josh Barnett would be a nice signature victory to boost the record and the pocket book. There is no doubt that this will be the first of many “biggest fights of Cormier’s career.”
My fight is now only one week away. Exactly 168 hours from now i'll be weighed in and re-hydrating. For most people fighting is considered human cock fighting, but when looked at in the proper light fighting is much more beautiful than that. I am asked all the time why do something that involves being punched repeatedly or why would I want to do something so barbaric.
Just landed in Fort McMurray, BC last night. I know I should be feeling nervous as time grows near, but really I cant stop thinking about flying. I have a terrible fear of flying in an aluminum tube 37,000 feet in the air.
The last few months I have started to see young men getting into the amateur MMA cage and trying to morph into their favorite fighter Nick Diaz. On one occasion I saw a young man throw a head butt at the weigh ins, two finger salute at the stare down, mock his opponent during the fight, and at the end of it all, almost incite a cage brawl by getting in the face of one of the opposing coaches. True story.
Maximum Fighting Championships 33 – “Collision Course” took place at the Mayfield Trade Center in Edmonton Alberta last week. Unfortunately, unless you were there in attendance nobody in Canada had the opportunity to watch it live on television. You have to believe that MFC took a bit of a hit in the ratings department. For a promotion that has claimed to be the biggest in Canada, they can’t be too excited about not being able to have Canadians watch live fights.
