Georges St.Pierre Out Of 137 With Sprained MCL

This was not the news that the UFC was expecting nor looking for. UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St.Pierre (22-2 MMA, 16-2 UFC) is out of next weekend's UFC 137 main event against Carlos Condit (27-5 MMA, 4-1 UFC).

German-born heavyweight Andreas “Big Daddy” Kraniotakes has agreed to step in for what he calls the biggest fight of his career when he takes on former UFC heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia in ProElite’s Nov. 5 main event in Moline, Ill. Brazilian striker, and UFC veteran, Pedro Rizzo – Sylvia’s original opponent -- had to withdraw after tearing his left triceps muscle during training.

Weight-cutting is becoming more and more of an issue in combat sports. The process, common among mixed martial artists, boxers and amateur wrestlers involves sucking as much as twenty plus pounds of water out of the body before the weigh-in and then re-hydrating afterwards, ostensibly to give the combatant an advantage in size. Proponents of weight-cutting insist that if done properly there is no risk to the body's health, while detractors point to cases of extreme dehydration and in some cases permanent damage.

Shane Carwin Out Until Spring/Summer 2012

Shane Carwin took to his blog over at shane-carwin.com to update fans on the status of his injury. He originally stated a week back that he was gearing up to make a return to the cage, unfortunately now the doctors said he either retires or has surgery. Carwin decided on the later and will hope to make a spring/summer 2012 return to the UFC cage.

Rory MacDonald: Any Fight I’m In Is Going To Be Exciting

Rory MacDonald is set to step back into the octagon against Brian Ebersole at UFC 140 in Toronto, Canada. The Canadian born MacDonald is coming off of a dominating win over Mike Pyle at UFC 133. MacDonald is currently 3-1 in the UFC with his only loss coming at the hands of the current number one contender in the welterweight division Carlos Condit.

Bantamweight Champion Makvosky Expecting A Tough Fight With Ryan Roberts At Bellator 54

The bantamweight division in MMA recently has a gotten a big boost when at UFC 132 Urijah Faber challenged Dominick Cruz for the Bantamweight Title and Cruz won a very entertaining fight. We got another one about two weeks back when Cruz made a successful title defense against Demetrious Johnson. That momentum continues this Saturday as Bellator Bantamweight Champion Zach Makovsky (13-2 MMA, 5-0 BFC) faces Ryan Roberts (16-9-1 MMA, 0-1 BFC) in his second non-title bout since winning the Bantamweight Title in season three.
