Phil "Mr. Wonderful" Davis has not fought in the UFC since back in March where he beat Antônio Rogério Nogueira to extend his unbeaten streak to nine. He came in to the UFC in February of 2010 and has since beat the likes of Brian Stann, Alexander Gustafsson, Rodney Wallace, Tim Boetsch and the above mentioned "Little Nog".
It looks like Jason "Mayhem" Miller has his game-plan set for his fight against Michael Bisping at The Ultimate Fighter 14 Finale on Dec. 3 at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Above are tweets from Rick Story's twitter account earlier today. He not only disclosed that he fought through injury during his loss to Martin Kampmann, but that he also just signed a 4-fight deal with the UFC.
It is expected to be announced in the next few days that Mark Munoz will face off against Chael Sonnen for the number one contender status in the middleweight division. This fight is expected to headline the UFC on Fox 2 card on Jan. 28 at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois.
I was listening to MMAJunkie Radio this morning and the fellas were chatting with Mike Dolce about a possible fight between Martin Kampmann and Thiago Alves. It wasn't even an hour later that Damon Martin of MMAWeekly.com broke the news that the two were lined up for an un-named card on March 3, 2012.
This past weekend the UFC invaded San Jose, California for the first time in organization history for UFC 139. The fight card featured a main event for the ages with Dan Henderson defeating Mauricio "Shogun" Rua in a five round war. Since Anderson Silva is expected to be inactive until mid 2012 due to injury, the UFC had to find another option for Chael Sonnen. The so-called "People's Champ" is rumored to be facing off against Mark Munoz in a number one contender fight at the UFC on Fox 2 card.
Last month during the UFC 137 festivities, MMASucka.com's Nick King had the chance to chat with Gray Maynard. In case you don't remember, Gray mentioned that he would be traveling to the Bay Area. Nick then mentioned AKA and how they were savages, which was the first hint of Gray moving training camps.
There could be a spot ready for Brian Stann on January 28th in Chicago, Illinois for the UFC’s first four fight show on FOX. The UFC will most likely announce who will be fighting on that card in the coming days. Nothing is for sure but Brian Stann's involvement would make the most sense. You have a Silver Star Marine who is not only a war hero but a pretty talented fighter. He is somebody the American audience could gravitate to.
Last nights UFC 139 main event was an epic match-up and possibly one that will be recognized as Fight of the Year. Many people however believe that the fight between Dan Henderson and Mauricio "Shogun" Rua was scored incorrectly. MMA's best media sources and fans alike thought that the fight ended in a draw.
