CFFC 121: Forest vs. Vines Results

Cage Fury Fighting Championships (CFFC) takes a trip down south for CFFC 121, which is scheduled to take place Friday evening from Horseshoe Casino & Hotel in Tunica, Miss.

The main event will see Raheem Forest and Treston Vines look to assert themselves in the 170-pound division. The main event was scheduled to have Jose Perez defend the CFFC featherweight title against Chris Vasil, but an illness on the part of Perez forced him off the card yesterday.

Fight fans can catch CFFC 121 streaming live on UFC Fight Pass for the main card beginning at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT. The prelims will be available to stream exclusively on OnlyFans beginning at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT.

MMA Junkie’s John Morgan and former WWE and AEW world champion CM Punk will have the call.

Main Event — Forest vs. Vines

Mother Nature’s two favorite sons, Forest and Vines, will take over Friday’s top billing after an illness forced Perez off the show. Vines is 2-2 in his last four fights but credited a change in mentality for his win against Ian Stephens his last time out and believes his most recent win will be a turning point in his career. Vines is a product of the southern regional MMA scene, but has fought on a large regional stage once in his career at LFA 101: The Undefeated. Then 4-0, Vines fell to another 4-0 prospect in Jalin Fuller, who has since gone on to fight for the LFA strap.

As for Forest, the 26-year-old is seeking to erase a recent defeat against Charlie Radtke. Much like his opponent, Forest too is a product of Southern MMA, but has been a CFFC mainstay for the majority of his career. He has many tools he can go to in the cage, but is in search of his first knockout in more than two years. Forest turned pro following a 4-6 amateur stint, but after opening his career on a 6-0 run, he seemed to have figured something out. If he can put April’s aberration behind him, he should be favored to defeat Vines.

Most sportsbooks currently see Forest as a -260 favorite, while the comeback on Vines is around +220.

Rest of the Card

Five fighters will be making their pro debuts on the undercard, which can be streamed exclusively on OnlyFans. As for Friday’s main card, Jarious Gill will be taking on Danny Barlow in the co-main event. Barlow is a 5-0 riser who will who has great size and physicality for the welterweight division.  The Law School MMA product also recently competed in combat jiu-jitsu for the first time in his career. A victory over Gill could put him on the shortlist for a CFFC title eliminator.

Unbeaten women’s prospects Rebecca Evans and Marilia Morais. Morais is off to a hot start with three first round finishes without a single defeat, but at 35 years young will need to keep up her winning ways if she wants a shot in a major promotion. Evans is 2-0 herself with a pair of finishes and an unbeaten amateur career in her back pocket. Given the lack of depth at 135 pounds (and the Amanda Nunes-sized hole currently in the UFC) the winner could find themselves on the radar of Sean Shelby and Mick Maynard before long.
