Chas Skelly and Jamall Emmers – UFC Vegas 19 Preview

Chas Skelly and Jamall Emmers are going to let hands fly this Saturday. The scheduled featherweight bout is part of the preliminary action at UFC Vegas 19. Skelly is an orthodox fighter with good boxing fundamentals, and a solid body lock takedown he relies on. In the opposite corner, Emmers is a sharp striker with some fast-twitch feints and strikes. In addition, Emmers loves to fire off knees down the middle to shut opponents down. At UFC Vegas 19, this will be Skelly’s 12th UFC fight, while Emmers is determined to carve a path of his own.

Chas Skelly and Jamall Emmers Toe the Line This Saturday

Skelly is a crafty veteran, and he’s seen a lot of talent inside the octagon. The 35-year old Texan last competed against Jordan Griffin in 2019 where he took home a unanimous decision. Skelly is a fun athlete that likes to throw down, his fight with Jason Knight was as thrilling of a fight as you can get. However, his ability to tie up on the ground during scrambles is insane, with ten submissions to his name, not too many athletes find themselves wanting to tango on the ground with this fellow.

On the other hand, Emmers has been busier but has run into trouble under the UFC banner. Before entering the UFC, Emmers was killing it with a 4-fight win streak. Prior to Emmers’s run though, he lost on the Dana White’s Contender Series [DWCS]. So, now in both his DWCS debut and his UFC debut he has laid eggs. However, it’s important to realize his UFC debut loss was at the hands of the capable Giga Chikadze and the young athlete was intent on rebounding–and he did.

Emmer’s liver kick puts opponents on their heels. Overall he demonstrated this amazingly when he fought Hawaiian slugger, Vince Cachero. Getting back in the win column, Emmers’ relentless pace and constant pressure began to wear down Cachero. In the end, Emmers won a dominant unanimous decision and put himself among the pack of 145ers. Going completely under the radar at UFC Vegas 19, Chas Skelly and Jamall Emmers are going to throw down in a scrap you won’t want to miss.
