Chris Anderson vs. Curtis Harriott II set for BFL 44 main event

For the first time in Battlefield Fight League history, a former champion will get an automatic rematch, as Curtis Harriott gets a chance at redemption against BFL welterweight champion Chris Anderson in the main event at BFL 44.

BFL officials made the announcement on Friday morning.

Anderson (3-0) made an impressive debut against Stu Deleurme at BFL 39 and has followed up with two more fantastic finishes against David Perron and Harriott. An underdog in all of his fights, “Bukwas” has found a way to win. In his main event battle for the 170-pound gold, Anderson weathered the early storm and tagged Harriott late in the first round. The pressure continued into the second round when he was able to finish the former champ via TKO to claim the crown in just his third pro fight.

Harriott (3-1), much like Anderson has impressed throughout his pro and amateur ranks. He started off his professional career on a three-fight winning streak, with victories over Ryan Ballingal, Dejan Kajic and Ash Mashreghi. Despite the loss against Anderson at BFL 42, Harriott feels like it will make him grow as a fighter.

This will be the third time the two have fought. Anderson is 2-0 in the rivalry, as he has handed Harriott his only losses in both his amateur and professional career.

BFL 44 goes down on June 18 from the Hard Rock Casino in Coquitlam, B.C.
