The UFC 168 card is filling up, with the announcement of two new fights in Diego Brandao vs. Dustin Poirier and Chris Leben vs. Uriah Hall.
UFC officials confirmed the bouts earlier today.
Chris Leben vs Uriah Hall, Diego Brandao vs. Dustin Poirier announced for UFC 168
Chris “The Crippler” Leben (22-10) is part of the original crop of The Ultimate Fighter contestants, making a name for himself as a volatile personality. Since then, Leben has continued to be somewhat volatile, battling demons while trying to retain relevancy in the UFC. On a 3 fight losing skid, Leben is now not only fighting for relevancy, but also his job. Will he be able to retain it against the powerhouse Hall?
Uriah Hall (7-4) was expected to be a steamroller based on his early performance in The Ultimate Fighter 17, but those expectations have yet to pan out since the finals. Currently 0-2 in the UFC, the flashy striker has had a knock on him for not being strong enough mentally. With a third loss unacceptable for a fighter in his position, the New York smashing machine will also be fighting for continued employment. Will he get his first UFC victory at the expense of the veteran Leben?
Diego “DB” Brandao (18-8) is part of the ever-growing international contingent over at Jackson’s MMA. The Ultimate Fighter Season 14 veteran, currently on a 3 fight win streak, has earned himself a step up in competition. Will he be able to use that step up and catapult himself into title contention with a win over Poirier?
Dustin “The Diamond” Poirier (14-3) has, in one way or another, been involved in some of the most scintillating submissions in the featherweight division, including his brabo choke victory over Jonathan Brookins at the TUF 16 finale. The American Top Team specialist is coming off a win over fellow top prospect Erik Koch, and is hoping to make it two in a row. Will he be able to get that second win over Brandao and make a case for title contention?
UFC 168 goes down on December 28th at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV. The card is topped with a middleweight title rematch between new 185 lbs. kingpin Chris Weidman and the man he dethroned, Anderson Silva. Also featured is a UFC Women’s Bantamweight Title rematch pitting champion Ronda Rousey vs. arch-nemesis Miesha Tate. Stay tuned to MMASucka.com for more on this and other events.
