A featherweight contest with huge title implications is set to take place in Austin as Cub Swanson fights Frankie ‘The Answer’ Edgar in the 5 round main event.
The match-up was confirmed on UFC Tonight.
Swanson (21-5) is widely considered to be the number 1 contender at 145 lbs after Chad Mendes gets his shot at Jose Aldo. Since losing to Ricardo Lamas in his debut at UFC on FOX 1, Swanson has won six in a row, most recently beating heavy-hitting Jeremy Stephens via decision at UFC Fight Night 44 in June. This fight was also in Texas.
Edgar (17-4-1) is a former UFC lightweight champion and is 2-1 since moving up to featherweight, with that loss coming from champion Jose Aldo in his divisional debut. Since then he has beaten Charles Oliveira and BJ Penn for the third time, forcing Penn into retirement.
UFC Fight Night 57 is expected to take place at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin Texas on November 22.
