DaMarques Johnson tweets his release from the UFC

DaMarques Johnson (16-12) has lost three in a row and in turn been released by the UFC.

The former Ultimate Fighter contestant revealed his dismissal from the organization via his Twitter account.

And the hits keep on coming… No longer a UFC fighter.

Johnson took on Gunnar Nelson at UFC on FUEL TV 5 on just 12 days notice. Unfortunately, Nelson kept his record clean and handed Johnson his third loss in a row when he beat him by rear naked choke in the first round. This was Johnson’s second loss in just 56 days, as he was defeated by Mike Swick by KO at UFC on FOX 4.

Not only did this fight happen on short notice, but Johnson failed to make the 175lbs catch-weight limit. He weighed in at 183lbs for the fight, but was given clearance to fight.

No word as to what Johnson will decide to do next.
