Dana White confirms Cain Velasquez vs Bigfoot Silva

UFC President Dana White has taken to twitter to set the record straight on former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velsaquez’s next opponent, and the winner of the Cain lottery is none other than Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva. Velasquez was left without an opponent for the upcoming UFC 146 event when prospective opponent Frank Mir was called up to receive a title shot against champion Junior dos Santos.

White, in his usual candor, tweeted the following:

Don’t believe any of the BS you read on the internet. Cain is fighting Bigfoot Silva May 26th in Vegas.

There was much speculation as to who Velasquez’s opponent would be with names from Roy Nelson, Fabricio Werdum all the way to a possible clash with Fedor Emelianenko being among the rumours.

Velasquez hasn’t fought since losing the title to dos Santos, while Silva is coming off of a loss to Daniel Cormier in Strikeforce’s heavyweight Grand Prix tournament.
