Dana White: ‘Going to have 60 cuts before the first of the year’

Last week news broke that Yoel Romero and the UFC had parted ways. Well, the former middleweight title challenger is not the lone duck, as UFC President Dana White stated at the UFC on ESPN 19 post-fight press conference that many cuts were going to be made.

On Saturday night, at the post-fight fight press conference, White explained why Romero was let go and that he will be joined by many others from the current roster.

Dana White says more cuts coming to the roster

“It’s not just Yoel,” White explained. “We’re going to go through some serious cuts here at the end of the year. Probably going to have 60 cuts before the first of the year. Yoel has lost four of his last five. He’s 44 years old. Our roster is very inflated right now. We’re going to have some big cuts coming before the end of the year.

“You’re going to see a lot of names going here in the next several weeks.”

As of right now, we are unsure who White is referring to when he states the ’60 cuts’, however, there are a fair share of veteran or gatekeeper type fighters on the UFC roster.
