Dana White says "There is no way in hell we’re cutting Leonard Garcia!"

The standard rule of thumb in the UFC is that if you lose three in a row you get cut. This wasn’t the case for Leonard Garcia and it looks like after last night’s loss against Max Holloway at UFC 155 he won’t be losing his job after four losses in a row.

When MMASucka.com spoke to Garcia prior to the fight he said he would not be playing it cool just because he felt it was a much needed win. He did just that; he left it all inside the Octagon against Holloway, however lost a split decision.

At the UFC 155 post-fight press conference, UFC President Dana White mentioned that during the Garcia vs. Holloway scrap match-maker Sean Shelby came up to him and pleaded his case to keep Garcia under the UFC banner.

“Sean Shelby, one of our matchmakers, came to me during the fight sometime and, I guess Leonard Garcia was in a situation to be cut if he lost tonight, and (Shelby) came to me and said, ‘Dana, I don’t wanna cut this guy,’ I said there’s no way in Hell we’re cutting Leonard Garcia!”

Many naysayers will disagree with this approach, but excitement keeps fighters employed and you can’t deny that Garcia is exciting.
