Dana White’s Contender Series 62 Results

Dana White’s Contender Series is back for the sixth Tuesday of the season.

This week’s episode will see 10 fighters compete for a shot at a UFC contract. A lightweight matchup between Malik Lewis (6-1) and James Llontop (13-2) will take top billing as the featured matchup of this week’s show.

This week’s episode of DWCS is set to get underway at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT, and can be streamed live on ESPN+.

Main Event — Lewis vs. Llontop

Llontop is yet another fighter to come to DWCS by way of the Peruvian regional scene. His record is impressive, with seven of his 13 wins coming by way of knockout. He is also riding an immense 11-fight winning streak, and has not lost since 2019. His activity is certainly a plus, and his winning ways have launched him on to the radar of the UFC, making him a legitimate prospect in the sport.

Lewis, meanwhile, posted a 7-0 amateur record before turning pro and while he made his MMA debut for the LFA, he has been fighting primarily for American regional promotion Peak Fighting. Ironically, he did appear on last season’s DWCS, coming up short against Trevor Peek. He has fought once since then, knocking out Paulo Silva with seven seconds to spare in a bout that took place back in February of this year.

Rest of the Card

The rest of the week’s card will see a slew of exciting fights, as well as some names that fans may recognize. Julia Polastri, the LFA strawweight champion, will vie for a UFC contract when she takes on Patricia Alujas of Paraguay. Polastri has a sound all-around MMA skillset, and could be a name to watch in the ever-stacked UFC strawweight division if she gets the contract.

The show will be co-headlined by a heavyweight bout between Brazilian prospects Eduardo Neves and Jhonata Diniz. Both men have knocked out opponents in all 13 of their combined victories, and Diniz brings some interesting kickboxing experience to the table that may give him the edge in a technical brawl.

Elsewhere on the card, A.J. Cunningham is set for action against Steven Nguyen. Cunningham has been a name floating around the regional scene for the last five years, with fights to his name for promotions such as LFA and Fury FC. Nguyen, meanwhile, won on the Contender Series two years ago when he defeated Theo Rlayang via Unanimous Decision, though he has not fought since. Jean Matsumoto and Kasey Tanner, meanwhile, will open the show with an exciting bout ticketed for the bantamweight division.
