Daniel Pineda takes on Robert Whiteford at UFC 171

UFC officials announced the match-up late Saturday.

Pineda (18-10) has gone 1-3 in his last four outings and is most recently coming off a decision loss to Diego Brandao at UFC Fight Night 26. That fight took place in August, prior to that he beat Justin Lawrence by submission. This will be Pineda’s first Octagon outing in seven-months.

Whiteford (10-2) made his UFC debut in October where he lost to Jim Hettes at UFC Fight Night 30. This was the Scotland native’s first loss since the first fight of his professional career in 2009.

The Pineda vs. Whiteford bout will likely take place on the preliminary portion of the UFC 171 fight card.

UFC 171 will go down on March 15, 2014 from the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. Headlining the event will be Johny Hendricks and Robbie Lawler for the vacant welterweight championship.
